İrmik Helvası (Turkish semolina Dessert)

  • 1 tbs butter
  • 3 tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup semolina
  • 2 tbs pine nuts
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 ts mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream


  1. In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter with the vegetable oil then toast the pine nuts until golden then add the semolina and toast only until gold brown (make sure you don’t over toast).
  2. In a different sauce pan, simmer the milk with the sugar.
  3. Pour the milk in the semolina mixture and mix until they’re well incorporated.
  4. Add the cinnamon and the mozzarella for better consistency, keep mixing in low to medium heat until the mixture becomes thick.
  5. Garnish with Cinnamon powder and Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
