Iranni Rice Pilaf


Number of Servings: 2
  • 1 cup Basmati rice.
  • 2 cups Stock (chicken, beef, or vegetable).
  • 1/4 cup Barberries.
  • 1/2 White onion, chopped.
  • 3 tbs Butter.
  • 1 tbs Olive oil.
  • 1 tbs Rose water.
  • Pinch of saffron.
  • Salt & pepper.


  1. Melt the saffron in the rose water.
  2. In a sauce pan over medium heat, melt the butter with olive oil and add the onions.
  3. Sweat the onion then add the rice.
  4. Season with salt and pepper and toast for a bit.
  5. Add the barberries and mix.
  6. Pour in the stock after heating.
  7. Lower the heat and cover.
  8. Cook for 10-15 mins.
  9. Uncover and pour in the rose water and stir with a fork.
Notes: Serve with grilled chicken or beef.
